1. Start with utility
We define the task, the context, the likely user, and the product tradeoffs before evaluating marketplace popularity.
2. Collect current evidence
Candidate records may include the ASIN, seller, current price, rating, review count, Prime availability, marketplace badges, sales indicators, feature details, and verification timestamp.
3. Remove duplication
Exact ASIN matches and functionally equivalent variants are grouped. Duplicate records remain in the decision history instead of being silently deleted.
4. Apply qualification rules
Products receive separate utility, price/commission-fit, and marketplace-signal ranks. The current strict final filter requires a rating of at least 4.2, at least 1,000 reviews, seller evidence matching Amazon.com, and a positive current price.
Passing a marketplace filter makes a product eligible for editorial consideration. It does not automatically create a recommendation or article.
5. Write with limits
Guides should identify who a product is for, who should skip it, relevant specifications, advantages, limitations, and the age of the evidence. Unsupported superlatives and invented testing claims are removed.
6. Refresh or retire
Ratings, reviews, prices, sellers, badges, and availability expire. Material changes can trigger an update, a downgrade, or removal from a shortlist.
